Why use rubber bands to train muscles?

The main advantage of an exponential resistance is to adapt to the curves of forces which are generated by our joint levers during movement. More levers are shortened upon movement there is less need to apply force to the lever, the elastic resistance can reverse this.

A force curve represents the ability to exert force at a time "M" (the relationship between the joint angle of the movement and the force at that time).

The force curve is generally parabolic for a simple lever type speed (inter-powerful) most prevalent in the human body. The need for strength is half the maximum movement when the lever is the largest. It is upward movement starts (need to increase strength) and down to the end of the movement (reduced need for power)

Concept of résistance !

To understand the specifics of elastic resistance, we must understand and know the different types of resistance that exist.

There are:

The gravitational resistance : The displaced charge remains the same throughout its displacement (eg a 10 kg dumbbell always weigh 10 kg This is the angle of the lever and its speed of execution during the movement, which will affect the ability of strength.

Isokinetic resistance : system of calculating and controlling power (speed and strength) with a computer during the execution of a movement. The athlete develops maximum strength at various speeds without being affected by the inertia of the load forces. Resistance will regulate the lever.

Adaptive linear resistance : Resistance that changes during the course of a year to compensate for the power relationship - joint angle. (Eg systems of pulleys or cams and tires).

The exponential resistance : Resistance increases with the range of motion regardless of the speed of execution (eg chains, springs and elastic bands).

Benefits of Working with rubber bands :

- Smoothness of execution

- Increase Regular resistance whatever the speed of execution

- Improved Speed

- Improved maximum force

- Improved Explosion

- Improved Force at the end of movement

- Increased recruitment of muscle motor units

- May be coupled to resistors gravitational

  1. -Addition Different resistances coupled

  2. -High intensity training in less time

What needs to be done for an effective workout :

  1. -Work On important and maximum speeds.

  2. -Based on coupled "resistance elastic / gravitational resistance" must work between 15% and 50% in tensile strength compared to the gravitational load used.
